Samsung finally launched its latest flagship phone Galaxy S8 and its plus varient after the unexpected failure of its previous flagship Galaxy Note 7. The phone is mainly in competition with the LG G6 , OnePlus 3T , IPhone 7 .
Samsung has done quiet a mind blowing engineering on S8. The phone features the Infinity Display , Bixby , Dex dock and Gear 360 camera. All these features are added to the phone with quiet many improvements in the user experience and the overall performance.
The infinty display is almost breathtaking . With the curved edges of the phone , it almost seems bezel less . The phones edge to edge display provides rich user experience and more content on the screen . Not only on the sides but with the elimination of the physical Keys at bottom and the Samsung logo on the top the bezels on the the top and bottom are also reduced to minimum making screen even more taller than it used to be . The S8 houses a 5.8 inch screen while the S8 plus has a 6.2 inches screen . Its a Quad HD Super Amoled screen with the resolution of 2550x1440 with the 570ppi density.
The screen has a aspect ratio of 2:1 instead of traditional 16:9 ratio which makes it very easy to divide screen into parts for multi window features.
Talking about camera , the phone has Dual Pixel 12MP autoFocus rear camera with the optical image stabilization in built. The pixel size is bumped to 1.44 microns. Slow motion , Panorama , hyperlapse etc are available . At front there is a 8MP wide selfie camera .
It can record videos at 4K at 30FPS and 1080p videos at 60 FPS.
The phone comes packed with the Android 7.0 (nougat).
It has a octacore processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM .
The phone has hybrid dual SIM slot to insert either nano sim or memory card upto 256GB.
The phone is IP68 water resistant .So the wet conditions won't be much of the issue.
The placement of the finger print sensor is little awkward at requires little effort to reach it or simply need to use two hands . It is placed along the side of the camera since the physical home key is now removed.
The phone is packed with the 3000mAh battery in S8 and 3500mAh in plus variant. The USB type c port is there at the bottom of the phone for charging and fortunately the headphone jack is still there .
S8 and S8 plus is available in many colors including midnight black , orchid Grey , coralBlue , maple Gold and arctic silver.
